The Quilt Man is located in Ashland, Virginia (“Center of the Universe”).  The store carries a large selection of Asian fabrics, 30s/reproductions, batiks, Modas and other quality quilting brand-names, black/whites, neutrals, African style prints, juvenile prints, various series, florals, landscape prints, large quilt backs, brights, and other fabrics.  Occasionally I get specialty fabrics in from specialty vendors.  I carry templates, applique supplies, books, patterns, notions, several thread lines.   We also have fabric clubs, kits and other opportunities.

About the “Quilt Man,” Chris, and his “Quilt Queen,” Nancy:

Chris has a background in retail since high school, and is a Navy veteran.  He earned a degree from VCU in art education.  He has the knowledge in color selection and related information to stock fabrics that sell, and to help you in your fabric selections.  He is a quilter, and prefers foundation (paper) piecing.  He likes the small pieces!

Nancy earned a degree from VCU in business, and has worked in business administration for over 30 years.  She has been employed with the same company for over 30 years. She has approximately 28 years of quilting experience, and has a background in sewing dresses.  She has made a wide selection of quilts and with a lot of technques.  Her newest adventure has been to take up Baltimore Albums - applique through a class we have been having here with an excellent teacher.  Nancy also teaches at the store and helps customers when she has time.  She is a source of great information.

We have been involved in the quilting community and quilting guilds for a long time.  We have been married over 30 years.
